Golf shoes come in two main sole types. Spiked shoes use replaceable plastic cleats that dig into turf for maximum grip, especially useful in wet conditions or on hilly courses. Spikeless shoes use a moulded rubber sole with small nubs instead of cleats — less grip on steep or wet ground, but comfortable enough to wear off the course too, since they don't damage indoor flooring or clubhouse carpets the way metal spikes can.
