TaylorMade Golf has just expanded its P·Series with the new P·770 and P·7CB irons, continuing its reputation for delivering high-performance, precision-engineered clubs. These latest players' irons are designed to offer a superior blend of feel, control, and consistency that fans of the P·Series have come to expect.
Tour-Driven Design
Inspired by feedback from tour pros and thorough analysis, the P·770 and P·7CB irons feature a compact, clean profile that’s sure to catch the eye. Both irons sport the classic thin top line and smaller blade of a players' iron, but the P·7CB is notably slimmer and more compact. This refined shape is meant to inspire confidence and deliver the control and precision that skilled ball strikers need. Meanwhile, the performance hallmarks of the P·Series—reliable feel and consistency—remain intact.
For the P·770, a modified leading edge enhances shot shaping and ensures clean turf interaction, while the P·7CB’s sole camber and progressive bounce keep turf interaction smooth and consistent across all clubs.
Proven by the Pros
The P·7CB irons are already making waves on tour. Rory McIlroy captured victories at the Zurich Classic and Wells Fargo Championship in 2024 with the P·7CB 4-iron in his bag. Collin Morikawa used the same club for three straight top-five finishes at the PGA Championship, Charles Schwab Challenge, and The Memorial Tournament, and later switched to a full set of P·7CB irons for the Scottish Open and The Open Championship. Tommy Fleetwood also chose the P·7CB 3-iron for his rounds at the Scottish and British Open.
Pure Feel and Feedback
Both the P·770 and P·7CB irons are engineered to deliver a remarkable feel at impact. The P·770 features a forged construction that provides a smooth, satisfying feel, along with precise sound and feedback. Matt Bovee, TaylorMade’s Global Category Director for Irons and Wedges, calls it the “most forgiving, best feeling P·770 to date,” perfect for players seeking a balance of forgiveness and control.
The P·7CB irons, on the other hand, use Compact Grain Forging, applying 2,000 tons of pressure to create highly responsive 1025 soft carbon steel for what Bovee describes as the “purest feeling” irons TaylorMade has produced.
Built for Consistency
Consistency is a key focus across the P·Series. Both P·770 and P·7CB irons are equipped with precision-milled faces and grooves for consistent launch, spin, and distance control. The P·770 utilizes TaylorMade’s FLTD CG™ technology to optimize launch conditions by positioning the center of gravity (CG) lower in the long irons and higher in the short irons. The updated tungsten weighting and slightly wider sole further enhance consistent flight and forgiveness, especially in the longer irons.
The P·7CB irons maintain a constant CG, giving players reliable, predictable ball flights with the right spin for precise shot shaping. Designed with better players in mind, these irons offer a unique combination of feel and forgiveness in a compact design.
