What Mizuno Say:
Flat Out Further. Mizuno’s Wave sole commits every available gram of weight low, towards the face – dropping spin rates for even the fastest, downward ball strikers. Our first Wave sole in a driver also allows the ST180 to contract and expand on impact – increasing energy imparted to the ball. With a new Forged SP700 Ti Face the GT180 accelerates ball speeds noticeably past is predecessors.
Features & Benefits:
- Amplified Wave Sole – Originally engineered for fairway woods, the Shockwave sole allows the sole to contract and expand during impact. This improves ball speeds from the face while pushing the CG location closer to the face for lower spin rates.
- Forged SP700 Face – The forged face allows for a precise Multi-Thickness design. This ensures it imparts the maximum amount of ball speeds possible regardless of the strike pattern.
- Quick Switch Hosel – Sporting a total of 8 settings and allowing for 4 degrees of loft and 3 degrees of lie angle changes the Quick Switch further enhances the custom set up ability of the ST-180.
- Internal Waffle Crown – This unique design allows for weight saving from the crown, the save weight is repositioned lower and forward in the head for increased launch angles and a lower spin rate.
Our Recommended Player Profile:
The ST-180 is a rather unique driver, it has low spin properties but sports a slightly shallower face profile compared to the GT-180. This combination creates a high launching low spinning driver with good stability. We would recommend this for the mid-to-low handicap player due to the lower spin design despite its forgiveness suiting virtually any golfer.
